Wajihi Haji Pandu is among the over two million people who have been protected as of November 2006 through PMI spraying efforts in the first three focus countries – Angola, Tanzania, and Uganda. Her home in Paje Village in Zanzibar, off the coast of Tanzania in East Africa, was sprayed in August 2006. Teams of workers, trained and equipped with portable sprayers, treated more than 200,000 houses on the islands, where over one million people live. “Since the spraying, I have seen fewer mosquitoes, flies, and other insects in my home, and the mice that used to come into my home have been driven away,” said the 50-year-old mother of six. |
