Global Health Initiative and President’s Malaria Initiative
Malaria prevention and control are major foreign assistance objectives of the U.S. Government. In May 2009, President Barack Obama unveiled the Global Health Initiative (GHI), a six-year, comprehensive effort to reduce the burden of disease and promote healthy communities and families around the world. Since its launch in 2005, PMI has reinforced the principles that are part of the GHI, including:

PMI Five-Year Evaluation
A comprehensive external evaluation is planned for PMI; it will be conducted between 2011 and mid-2012, when most FY 2010-funded activities will have been implemented.
