Malaria in Malawi Malaria is a major public health problem in Malawi, and all Malawians are at risk of contracting the disease. Although progress in reducing malaria prevalence has been detected, the Ministry of Health estimates that the disease accounts for 33 percent of all outpatient visits and remains the number one cause of hospital admissions among children under five.   Read more about PMI's activities in the Malawi Country Profile [PDF, 170KB].

The Malaria Operational Plans (MOPs) below are detailed one-year implementation plans for PMI in Malawi. Each MOP briefly reviews the current status of malaria control and prevention policies and interventions, identifies challenges and unmet needs, and describes planned activities under PMI. These MOPs have been endorsed by the Global Malaria Coordinator and reflect collaborative discussions with national malaria control programs and partners in country.
